At times the local church has not done well at establishing a deeply rooted faith that weathers the inevitable storms of life. We have avoided some topics, danced around challenging issues and often unintentionally left people with an incomplete and shallow faith.
Too often, we have communicated that following Jesus is like a buffet line. We avoid what we don't like and consume only the parts that fit our pallet—grace, forgiveness, and love. I'll only take two of those. The objective truth of God's word, judgment, and holy living? I'll pass. We treat those things of faith like elephants in the room. Ignored, avoided, and looked past. Yet, an a la carte faith, one that avoids hard truths, is ultimately a faith destined to fail.
This series explores four foundational principles of the Christian faith. Principles that our current culture may find difficult and uncomfortable but result in a resilient faith.
